FORMAT
All games will be win by 2, no cap
Doubles Events will be Double Elimination, best 2/3 games to 11
Consolation bracket, 1 game to 15
Bronze Medal matches - 1 game to 15
Gold Medal matches - best 2 out of 3 games to 11
1 game to 15, if a fourth game is required to determine the winner
Singles Events will be Round Robin, 1 game to 15
Medal Round
- if one pool, top four players, 1 vs 2 for Gold/Silver, 1 game to 15
3 vs 4 for Bronze, 1 game to 15
- if two pools, top 2 players from each pool advance to medal round
- Preliminary playoff: A2 vs B1, B2 vs A1, one game to 15
- Winners of preliminary playoff play for Gold/Silver, 1 game to 15
- Losers of preliminary playoff play for Bronze, 1 game to 15

Early registration for Surrey Pickleball Club members starts on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 9:00 a.m.
Registration for General Public will open on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 9:00 a.m.
Registration closes on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at 9:00 p.m.
Registration fee: $65 plus $15 per event
An online PCO waiver will be used for registration.

REGISTERING FOR AN EVENT:
The skill level of players is determined by the data in the players' Pickleball Brackets profile. The priority for determining a player's skill level is their Canadian Tournament Player Rating (CTPR). If that is lacking then their Pickleball Brackets profile tournament rating, and if that is lacking their Pickleball Brackets self-rating. When registering for a skill level, eg. 4.0 at least one of the players must be rated at the skill level of the event. Note: a 3.5 and a 4.0 player are eligible to play in 4.0. Two 3.5 players cannot play in 4.0.
This is a Pickleball Canada sanctioned tournament. All registrants MUST be a Pickleball Canada member in good standing to play in this tournament. Please ensure your Pickleball Canada Membership number and your skill level are up to date in your pickleballbrackets.com profile before registering for this tournament. If you are not a Pickleball Canada member, you can become a member at https://pickleballcanada.org/
Registration is online only at https://pickleballbrackets.com/. Registration is not complete until BOTH partners have registered, agreed to the online waiver, and PAID in full. Online payment via Stripe. Please note: Stripe accepts credit card payments. When the maximum per event is reached based on fully registered/paid teams, others will be added to the waitlist.
Note: If the partner has not completed their registration within THREE days of the first partner registering, the team will be moved to the waitlist if there are fully-paid teams on the waitlist. When the identified partner registers after the three-day grace period, the team will move from the waitlist back to the active list ONLY if there is a slot available. In the case of waitlists, in doubles events – teams will take priority over individuals.
All players must complete their registration by June 18, 2023, at 9:00 p.m., in order to remain on the Active List.
Players may enter as a team or look under “Players Needing Partners” to find a partner.
COMPLETE means, the waiver is signed, the registration is paid in full and your partner needs to be registered, the waiver signed, and PAID IN FULL.
The Tournament Committee reserves the right to place players in the Skill Group based on their current UTPR/USAPA/PCO rating skill groups based on registration. The Tournament Committee has the right to make changes to the tournament, combine divisions, or change and alter the format depending on the number of registrations received.
HELPFUL INFORMATION:
Players are encouraged to bring:
- their own portable chairs
- hat or umbrella for personal shade
- we are planning to have Food Trucks on-site. If you have dietary concerns or restrictions then consider bringing your own food and drinks
- remember that dehydration can happen quickly when playing in the sun
- water will be available for purchase or the nearest free water refill station is located inside the Recreation Center, a two-minute walk from the venue

Officiating: All matches, where possible, will be refereed. If you are willing to referee, please contact the Tournament Director at midsummerslam@gmail.com
Certified Referees - $15/ match Level 2 Referees - $10/ match
Level 1 Referees - $7/ match Volunteer Referees - $5/ match
Clothing: If a player is wearing clothing that is the same colour as the ball, he/she may be asked to change apparel by the Tournament Director.
Commemorative tournament shirts $27.00: FOR SALE through the registration portal when registering for the tournament. The deadline for ordering is June 18, 2023. Please note, there will be no exchanges for a different size shirt. Refer to the sizing chart to carefully choose your size. Tournament shirts can also be ordered through the Surrey Pickleball Club Online Store.

Refund Policy
Registrants withdrawing before June 18, 2022, 9:00 p.m. will be refunded registration & event fees minus a $15.00 administration fee. There will be absolutely NO refunds after June 18, 2022, 11:00 p.m. for player cancellations or withdrawals.
Rain-out date is Monday, July 17, 2023 should it be required. PLEASE plan to be available for the rain-out day.
In the case of inclement weather or other unforeseen issues between July 14-17 that prevent play, only those participants who did not play in ANY event will be refunded their registration & event fees, minus a $15.00 administration fee.
