This is a Tier 1 Pickleball Canada sanctioned tournament that will follow international pickleball rules and have referees for every match.
• Events will be double elimination with each match being best 2 out of 3 games to 11 on the “A” side of the draw. On the “B” side of the draw each match will consist of one game to 15. Players are guaranteed three games.
• Medals will be awarded to the top three teams in each (combined) bracket.
Additional Information
• Gold medal winners from the 2021 Western Region Provincial championships will be emailed an invitation for Pre-Registration which starts March 25 at 7:00 p.m. MST
• Residents of the provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia or the Yukon or Northwest Territories are eligible for registration starting at 6:00 p.m. MST on April 4, 2022
• Players from the rest of Canada and international competitors must wait until April 18 at 6:00 p.m. MST to register.
• All participants must be members of Pickleball Canada.
• Please ensure your Pickleball Canada Membership number and your skill level are up to date in your pickleballbrackets.com profile before registering for this tournament. If you are not a Pickleball Canada member, you can become a member at https://pickleballcanada.org/ If you can't remember your Pickleball Canada number, check here: https://secure.pickleballcanada.org/login/
• If this is the first time you will participate in a tournament which uses the Pickleball Brackets system, give careful thought to the skill levels you recorded in your Player Profile. These skill levels plus .250 will be the starting point for your tournament rating calculation. To assist with validating the starting point for your tournament ratings, please read the information and complete the online Canadian Tournament Player Rating form by copying and pasting this link in a browser window: https://pickleballcanada.org/play/competitive-pickleball/ratings/
• Your Canadian Tournament Player Rating (CTPR) is used to determine your skill level for entering this tournament. It is found by searching for your name in the Pickleball Canada Organization on www.pickleballbrackets.com.
• Participants may play up a .5 skill level or down in age, BUT AT LEAST ONE TEAMMATE MUST BE AT THE CORRECT SKILL LEVEL (Check with the tournament director for exceptions)
• Players may enter a maximum of 3 events and may only enter one doubles, one singles and one mixed doubles.
• Enter as a team or look under 'Players Needing A Partner' to find a partner
• In the case of wait lists, in doubles events, teams will take priority over individuals. Our goal is to accommodate as many people as the schedule will allow - but at the same time have a well-rounded tournament with representation from all skill levels.
• Players who register without a partner will have five days to find a partner before being moved to the Waitlist. Once a partner has been found they will be moved off the waitlist, space permitting.
• Age brackets will be combined if the number of entries does not support separating brackets by age.
• Medals will be awarded to the top three teams in each (combined) bracket.
• The tournament committee reserves the right to place players in their appropriate skill level category and to combine or split brackets based on registrations.
• The tournament ball will be the Onix Fuse G2 outdoor neon green; with thanks to our Sponsor - ONIX
• Level 1 Referees will be compensated $5 per match; Level 2 Referees $7 per match; Certified Referees $10 per match. Volunteer referees with the appropriate training are also encouraged to referee, space permitting. Sign up on Pickleball Desk at www.pickleballdesk.com/signup/302
• Book your hotels early as there are two other major events in the city that weekend: Cirque du Soleil is holding eight shows and a Saskatchewan Roughrider game is on the Saturday evening!
