MPC Thanksgiving Classic 2024

Description

The annual MPC Thanksgiving Classic is the largest tournament in the St. Louis Region. Last year drew more than 450 players. This year we are adding a day for senior doubles and will again welcome amazing players from many different regions.You will want to register early as this tournament is sure to fill up!

A waiting list will be started when a bracket has reached its capacity. Waiting list and bracket sizes may be adjusted. Unpaid teams will be moved to the waiting list if a bracket reaches capacity.

Registration includes 3 events as stated above, Seniors can play in all three events and add Wednesday Doubles for $10 extra.

Dates of Play:

Wednesday - Senior Doubles (50+, 60+)
Friday - Singles (all ages), Senior Mixed Doubles (50+, 60+)
Saturday - Doubles (All ages)
Sunday - Mixed Doubles (All ages)

Format:

This tournament will be conducted in the standard Championship Style, Double Elimination Format.

The Upper Bracket will consist of 2 out of 3 games to 11 Points (win by 2).

The Lower Bracket will consist of 1 Game to 15 Points (win by 2).

If there are 5 or fewer teams in a bracket, a Round Robin will be conducted with each match consisting of 2 out of 3 games to 11 points (win by 2).

The Tournament Director reserves the right to adjust brackets, format, and merging of brackets as needed.

The Franklin X-40 (Green) ball will be used.

The Tournament will request that DUPR upload the results of this tournament.

Registration fees include entrance to three events.

Regular Registration - $80 (plus system registration fee)
Late Registration - $90 (plus system registration fee)

Please note that funds cannot be "transferred" to another player.

Additional Information

We put together a list of frequently asked questions that we hope will be helpful to you as you get ready. Keep in mind, the MPC Annual Tournament Series brings together players from all over the US. Tournament players winning points, games, or matches should consider this to be a MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENT!

Is my paddle approved? - It is the players responsibility to verify that their paddle is on an approved equipment list. Missouri Pickleball Club tournaments allow paddles approved by USA Pickleball and those used in PPA/DUPR/UPA/MLP events.

Is Food Available? - Though there will be no food vendors available on site, there are many different dining options in the shopping centers within walking distance or a short drive from Missouri Pickleball Club. Many also offer delivery options. MPC has vending machines onsite and they also have various drinks available for purchase. A water fountain is available. MPC will update everyone if there are any changes.

Why do I see someone with a higher DUPR rating than what is allowed for the bracket. - Pickleball Brackets uses a person’s DUPR rating at the date/time they register as is done in official tournaments. The tournament software automatically prohibits someone from signing up in an unauthorized skill or age category. It is possible for someone’s rating to fluctuate after they register but the only rating that counts for the tournament is the rating held on the date/time the person registered. The tournament operations team will not make any changes to this.

When will I specifically play? - Once your bracket officially starts, games will be assigned as courts become available. VERY IMPORTANT - The tournament rule is that all players must be checked-in and ready to play NO LATER than 30 minutes prior to their posted match start time. Please allow plenty of time to park, check-in each day, hydrate, use the restroom, and be ready to start no later than 30 minutes prior to your posted match time.

How do I know where I am playing? - You must have texting enabled on your Pickleball Brackets account. This is the ONLY way you will be notified. Please note that you may forfeit your match if you do not arrive at the court at assigned times.

Where do I find my bracket? - Sign in to the Pickleball Brackets system and chose your event from the page.

How do I know who is playing on which court? - If a team is assigned to a court, then you will see that court assignment number in a blue box next to the teams.

I need to withdraw from the tournament, can you “swap” my registration for someone else? - Funds/Registration may NOT be “swapped” or transferred. If a substitute is allowed they must register and pay all applicable tournament fees.

Where will results be posted? - Results will be posted on Pickleball Brackets and any additional rating system with whom Pickleball Brackets has an agreement. Check the Pickleball brackets website for additional information.

Please note that the tournament software (Pickleball Brackets) charges $5.00 or $10.00 as a registration fee depending on how many events you register for. Please note neither the tournament directors nor the venue have any control over these fees and they are non refundable in case of withdrawal.

Refunds are available minus the system fee and a $5.00 transaction fee until the scheduled registration close date. No refunds will be given after registration closes.
