NSW Open 2022

Description

Welcome to the NSW Open Pickleball Tournament on 9, 10 & 11 April, 2022 at Abbotsleigh.

Registration Opens: 25th February, 2022 @ 12pm
Registration Closes: 28th March, 2022 @ 5pm

This is a Pickleball Australia SANCTIONED tournament. It will use the current IFP rules. They can be found at: IFP Official Rules of Pickleball

Specific details are listed below:

- Entry Fee: $65.00/player. Second Event is $10.00.
- Early Bird entry Fee: $60.00/player. Second Event is $10.00.
- Events will start with round robins and move to elimination - formats for these will be determined once numbers are finalised.
- You can play in more than one event during the tournament but the second event needs to be in a different category e.g. Mixed Doubles, Doubles or Singles.
- Finals matches will be best out of three games to 11 with a win by 2.
- Players are guaranteed three games.
- Medals will be awarded to gold, silver and bronze winning competitors for each bracket.
- Saturday is for Mixed doubles for 8 years to 64 years.
- Sunday is for gender doubles for 8 years to 64 years and singles for everyone
- Monday is for 65+ events.

The tournament director reserves the right to modify the events and/or schedule as needed pending influences beyond our control (ie. Fire drill, Covid restrictions).

Additional Information

Open categories are available in all all events. This is also the category for all players 19 - 34 who are rated 4.0+.
Players aged 35+ with a rating of 4.0+ have the option of an aged event OR the Open. You will register in a large container category and the age divisions will be decided upon close of registrations based on numbers.
For all other skill skill divisions you will be asked to register in a large container category of 19+ years. Again once when registrations are closed, this large group of registrations will be divided into age brackets based on the quantity of registrations. You will be informed of these smaller age categories.
The following age categories or collapsed versions of these will be: 35+, 50+, 55+ 60+, 65+, 70+ and 75+.

A registration is considered complete when the Team is complete. BOTH players must register within 6 days of the first player's registration OR the team will be moved to the WaitList. If you do not have a partner, you can look under 'Players Needing Partners' to find a partner. (Click on the large button next to the logo on the Home page of the tournament website).

All participants must be members of Pickleball Australia. Anyone who is a member of their state association (such as PANSW) or a club (such as Hunter), is automatically a member of PAA. If you are not a member by the time you check-in you will be charged the membership fee at that time. You will need to know your PAA membership number.

At a minimum, referees will be scheduled on the gold medal match. To discover some the characteristics of playing with a referee go to the PANSW website and open the 'Playing with a referee' document. Playing with a Referee

If you are unavoidably detained and it appears that you will not arrive in time for your game/match, please contact Yvonne Edwards. We can update you on the schedule and consider options but your game may result in a forfeit.

Refund Policy

Player requests for withdrawals will be accepted until Tuesday, 5th April, 2022 at 6pm, with a full refund less a $10 administration fee.

After 5th April, 2022 at 6pm, there will be no refunds provided. Only exceptions would be hospitalisation, suffering from COVID or in isolation due to close contact with COVID.
