MIXED EVENT FORMAT:
Round Robin
Each event will be split into pools of 3-5 teams for round robin play.
Single Elimination Playoff
Playoff Qualifications:
If 1 pool, the top 3 teams advance to playoff
If 2 pools, the top 4 teams advance to playoff
If 3 pools, the top 6 teams advance to playoff
If 4+ pools, the top 1 team from each pool advances to playoff
ROUND ROBIN TIEBREAKER
During Round Robin when there is a head-to-head, the tie breaker logic is as followed:
1st tie-breaker: head-to-head matches won
2nd tie-breaker: points differential of all games played
3rd tie-breaker: head-to-head point differential
4th tie-breaker: point differential against next-highest team
5th tie-breaker: match coordinator will refer to who has the higher DUPR/PBR score as individual or the average as a team
SKILL LEVEL
There are three ways to look at your skill level:
1) PBB self-rate tool. PBB requires that you “self-rate” your skills as you set up your profile. Make sure your self-rating is not lower than your DUPR.
2) DUPR rating. If your DUPR has a “no rating” or if your DUPR has a low number of games (which makes your rating unreliable), please take that into consideration as you self-rate on PBB.
3) Pickleball Brackets Rating (PBR). When you participate in PBB tournaments and events, a PBR is assigned to your account.
To determine which event to sign up for in this tournament, you can use this as a guide:
3.0 Event: DUPR/PBR rating up to 3.24
3.5 Event: DUPR/PBR rating between 3.25-3.74
We understand your DUPR/PBR rating may fluctuate between now and the start of the tournament. Try your best to sign up for the most appropriate skill level. DUPR/PBR ratings will be used to seed pools. The match coordinator may move you to another skill level based on your DUPR/PBR rating, especially if your rating is more than .5 above or below the event bracket you registered for.
