Description
The Red Deer Pickleball Club in cooperation with Pickleball Canada, presents the Pickleball Canada National Championship 2021 Tournament. It will provide Open as well as Skill (and Age) based competition and be played outdoors on 20 courts over six days. The tournament director reserves the right to modify the events, and schedule as needed pending weather, and other outside influences beyond our control, (Covid restrictions). This is a Pickleball Canada sanctioned tournament that will use the current IFP rules.
• Events will be double elimination with each match being best 2 out of 3 games to 11 on the “A” side of the draw. On the “B” side of the draw each match will consist of one game to 15. Players are guaranteed three games.
• The minimum bracket size is eight teams.
• Medals will be awarded to the top three teams in each (combined) bracket.

• General registration are asked to wait until April 15 at 10:00 a.m. MST to register.
. A registration is considered complete when the Team is complete, BOTH players must register with 3 days of the first player's registration, OR the team will be move to the WaitList.
***YOUR PLAYER PROFILE- should have Receive in game text messages checked to YES, AND Cell Carrier should be selected. This is how you will receive your game notifications and court assignments. FAILURE TO SHOW UP ON TIME FOR YOUR GAMES WILL RESULT IN A FORFEIT***
. Due to the uncertainty of Covid restrictions - we will not accept payments until July 1 or until such time as we may have a reasonable expectation the tournament will be a go. At that time, you will have 5 days to make your payment or you will be moved to the WaitList.
• All participants must be members of Pickleball Canada.

a. Canadian Birth Certificate
b. Valid Canadian passport or Nexus
c. Secure Certificate of Indian Status
d. Permanent Resident card
e. Canadian Citizenship Certificate dated after February, 2012
f. Canadian Citizenship Card dated before February, 2012
• Enter as a team or look under 'Players Needing Partners' to find a partner
• If the partner hasn't completed their registration within five days of the first partner registering, the team will be automatically moved to the Wait List. When the identified partner registers after the five day grace period, the team will automatically move from the Wait List back to the active list if there is a slot available.
• In the case of wait lists, in doubles events - teams will take priority over individuals. Our goal is to accommodate as many people as the schedule will allow - but at the same time have a well-rounded tournament with representation from all skill levels.
• The current International Federation of Pickleball rules will apply.
• Level 1 Referees will be compensated $5 per match; Level 2 Referees $7 per match; Certified Referees $10 per match. Volunteer referees with the appropriate training are also encouraged to referee, space permitting.
• A complimentary tee shirt will be available to all players.
• Participants are required to enter at the highest of their current Pickleball Brackets skill rating or UTPR as of the date of registration. If you are not rated, consult with other players and visit the Pickleball Canada website for ratings information.
• Age brackets will be combined if the number of entries does not support separating brackets by age.
• Medals will be awarded to the top three teams in each (combined) bracket.
• The tournament committee reserves the right to place players in their appropriate skill level category and to combine brackets based on registrations.
MUST BE A 4.5 or GREATER TO PLAY IN OPEN EVENTS
MINORS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A RESPONSIBLE ADULT.
